Relaxed rounds: practice with no timer

Updated

A relaxed round takes the clock away. It is for anyone who wants the time, whatever the reason, on any plan and as a guest.

Play one

  1. On the Play page, press Practice under a game, or an extended mode if your plan has it.
  2. Tick Relaxed: no timer.
  3. Press Start.

A daily's start page also offers "Prefer no timer? Play a relaxed practice round", which takes you to the same page with the box ticked. The daily itself keeps its clock: a relaxed round is a new draw, not today's questions.

What it counts for

  • Practice: a relaxed practice round uses one of today's practice rounds, like any other. On Driver and above they are unlimited, and extended rounds are not counted.
  • Rating: none. It is unrated, and your rating does not move.
  • XP: none of any kind, streak milestones included.
  • Boards: no place.
  • Streak: it keeps the day, with the same bar as any round: real answers to at least half its items, and Keep a streak on.
  • Badges: it counts for none, and a day kept only by a relaxed round does not count towards a streak badge.
  • Sharing: it has no Challenge a friend button.

Its questions count as seen from then on, so they will not earn first-time XP or move your rating later.

How you can tell

The round's title and your history say Relaxed, and the result says "A relaxed round: it keeps your streak day, and is unrated, with no XP, badge or board place." Relaxed rounds are included in your stats.

Is there really no clock?

None on screen and none hidden. A round left open for more than a day closes unfinished, like any other.

Which rounds can be relaxed?

Practice and extended rounds, in every game that has them except Flying Lap, where the timer is the game. Road Book has no countdown anyway. Dailies, archive replays, duels and challenges keep their clock.
