Streak reminders and installing the app

Updated

You can keep My Hangar on your phone like any other app, with nothing to download from a store, and ask for a reminder before your streak ends. Neither is on until you turn it on.

How do I install it on Android or a computer?

In Chrome or Edge, after you finish a round, we offer Install. If you said no, use Install app or Add to Home screen in the browser's menu.

How do I install it on iPhone or iPad?

In Safari, tap Share, the square with an arrow, then Add to Home Screen, then Add. Open My Hangar from the new icon from then on. The app on your Home Screen keeps its own storage, apart from Safari, so you log in once more there. If you played as a guest, create an account first or that progress stays in Safari.

What does a reminder say, and when?

One notification, at about 7 pm Madrid time: you haven't played today, and one round before midnight counts. It says nothing about your account, your scores or the questions. Tapping it opens Play.

You get at most one a day, and none on a day you played, or while a pause is on. You still get one if you hold a freeze. If you ignore three in a row we stop, and they start again once you have played three days running or turn them back on.

How do I turn them on?

Reminders need an account. Open Progress, go to Settings and press Turn on reminders on this device, then allow notifications when your browser asks. Do this on each device you want them on. We also offer it after a round.

On iPhone and iPad this needs iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later, and My Hangar added to your Home Screen, opened from there.

Can I get them by email?

Yes, if you ask. In the same place, tick If a notification can't reach me, email me instead. It is off until you tick it, and it only sends when no notification could be delivered. Every email has a link to stop them, which stops reminder emails and nothing else.

How do I turn them off?

In Progress, under Settings, press Turn off next to a device. You can turn off another device from here too. Logging out also turns off the device you are on, and Sign out everywhere turns off all of them. Blocking notifications for My Hangar in your browser or phone settings stops them as well.

Why did I not get one?

You may have played or paused, or you may have ignored the last three. If we change how we describe reminders, they pause until you turn them on again. Phones can also hold notifications back in battery-saving or focus modes. A reminder not delivered by midnight is dropped, since it would be out of date.

What do you keep?

For each device: the address your browser's push service gave us, the keys that encrypt the message, its language and dates. See what we hold. Whoever runs your browser's push service carries the message, encrypted so they cannot read it: Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft.
